Bring a School to life using Photography

Project Brief – St Johns Walworth Photography Based in Elephant and Castle, South London, St John’s Walworth Primary School were in desperate need for a new website, which would not only showcase the school but also give it a much-needed boost to help lift the school ethos. They were looking to connect with parents more and encourage others from the surrounding area to join the school. Recruitment levels had to rise as they were under threat from other local schools. As with all the schools I work with I knew I had to be careful of their budget so any ideas that I came up with had to be viable. To help bring the new website to life they also needed some school photography to ensure the fun and excitement could be shown in the right way. Challenges

I thought long and hard about what would work and what wouldn’t.  I decided to spend a day with the school to get a better feel about the atmosphere and the type of people that worked there and the type of pupils they had.  This was really helpful as I could see how the school works. The images had to be bright and fun yet also show that there is some serious work taking place here. This is a school that wants its children to achieve so it was important to get the right balance. Final Results I am really pleased with the final images for St. John’s Walworth primary school. The school is excited too about how they sit on the website. I got some really great images of the pupils and the teachers. Together with the website it has all worked out perfectly and really showcases another side of the school!
