Background: West Green primary School – Website Design London
I was asked to carry out a brand new website design for
West Green Primary School. The old website had been created internally, was out of date and really needed a fresh approach.
Brief – Website Design
Prior to building and designing the website I sat down with the senior leaders and went through a variety of school web design options. I discussed the main things that they wanted and how they would like the site to be run in the future.
I provided 3 different designs and pricing options and they chose the one that suited them best. They didn’t need me to take the photographs for them but I was able to advise the best sort of photographs that we’d need for the website. This really helped as I was able to ensure that the photos they took would fit the site perfectly and really lift it to another level.
Challenges:
I had a tight deadline for this design and build so we had to make sure it was up and live within 4 weeks. I worked really well with the main school contact and with the help of our project management system it meant I was ready to go live on time. The site then continued to build and grow as they asked me to help maintain the site as well so that the site is always up to date and ready for any Ofsted inspection.
Solution: Great Web Design that works!
I have been really pleased with the overall look and feel of the school website. The design, colours and images all help to really showcase the school in just the way we wanted. However, the main thing is that the school, teachers and pupils, love the website too.
I provided a short training session for the main year group teachers and this ensured that everyone was more comfortable when they started to do their school blogs.
Teachers can now easily update the class blog and help to inform parents as to what is going on plus pupils can now leave positive comments about the things they liked that day. You can view the website here:
